RecoverFree™ gatherings are created to support meaningful conversation, personal reflection, shared experience, and connection. Whether you are in a 12-step recovery program for addiction, are exploring a sober journey, have long-term sobriety, or choose not to define yourself by a label at all, you are welcome to participate.

These Community Guidelines apply to RecoverFree™ online gatherings and in-person community events and are intended to support an experience where everyone can participate with consideration for one another and the community as a whole.

Confidentiality & Privacy

What is shared in a RecoverFree™ gathering should remain confidential. Please do not share another participant’s personal story, identity, or comments outside the gathering.

RecoverFree™ Community Circles and Book Club gatherings are not recorded. Participants may not photograph, screenshot, audio record, video record, screen record, transcribe, or otherwise capture or distribute any portion of a gathering.

While RecoverFree™ asks every participant to honor these confidentiality guidelines, RecoverFree™ cannot guarantee the actions or confidentiality of other participants.

Share From Your Own Experience

We invite participants to speak from their own lived experience and perspective. Using “I” statements helps keep the conversation grounded in personal reflection rather than assumptions about what another person should think, feel, or do.

Please allow others to complete their shares without interruption. Different experiences, recovery pathways, beliefs, and perspectives are welcome.

Sharing is always optional. You are equally welcome to listen and be present.

Conversation & Sharing

RecoverFree™ gatherings are opportunities for shared reflection and conversation rather than individual coaching or advice.

Please refrain from diagnosing others or offering unsolicited advice. When someone shares, allow their experience to remain their own.

Community Circle individual shares are limited to three minutes so that as many participants as possible have an opportunity to participate. Book Club conversations may follow a different format depending on the reading and discussion.

Sobriety & Participation

You are welcome to attend a RecoverFree™ Community Circle or Book Club gathering regardless of where you are on your recovery journey. Whether you are not currently sober, are just beginning to explore recovery, or have been sober for many years, you are welcome to join our online gatherings.

However, please refrain from sharing or attending in-person events if you have used alcohol or other mind-altering substances within the last 48 hours.

Online Gathering Guidelines

Please join from a location where you can participate without compromising the privacy of others in the gathering. Headphones are encouraged when other people are nearby.

Please keep your microphone muted when you are not speaking to minimize background noise.

Because these gatherings include personal conversation and shared experiences, please do not allow anyone who has not registered for the gathering to listen to or observe the meeting from your device.

Educational Purpose

RecoverFree™ Community Circles and Book Club gatherings are provided for educational purposes only and are not therapy, psychotherapy, medical or mental health care, addiction treatment, crisis services, or individual recovery coaching.

Information, practices, readings, discussions, and personal experiences shared during a gathering are not medical, psychological, or other professional advice and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

Participation in RecoverFree™ community gatherings is not a substitute for professional care or treatment when needed.

Personal Responsibility & Boundaries

Each participant is responsible for deciding what they choose to share and how they participate.

Please honor your own boundaries and the boundaries of others. Participants are never required to disclose personal information, discuss their recovery, or participate in a conversation they would prefer to observe. Your freedom to choose what is right for you is honored in all RecoverFree™ community gatherings and events.

Supporting the Community

RecoverFree™ may redirect a conversation, interrupt a share, mute a participant, or remove someone from a gathering when necessary to support the integrity, privacy, or functioning of the group.

Behavior that is threatening, discriminatory, sexually inappropriate, harassing, disruptive, or intentionally harmful to another participant is not permitted.

RecoverFree™ reserves the right to limit or discontinue an individual’s participation in future gatherings when these Community Guidelines are repeatedly or seriously violated.

Before You Join

By participating in a RecoverFree™ online Community Circle, Book Club, or in-person gathering, you agree to follow these RecoverFree™ Community Guidelines.

Thank you for helping create a community grounded in meaningful conversation, personal reflection, and shared experiences.
